Bargaining Committee for Local 056 & 057, exchange proposals with health regions

Members of the Bargaining Committee for Local 056 and Local 057 exchanged proposals with the employer March 11. The bargaining team delivered a strong message of solidarity to the health regions Tuesday, during its initial face-to-face meeting with the employer. “The mandate from members is very clear,” said Malcolm McNaughton, AUPE’s Union Representative leading this round of bargaining. “The members have given us a strong mandate: monetary issues will be predominate in this round of bargaining. Well, let's see what we get out of this. I know that many of my coworkers are ready to quit if some major money doesn't come out of this.

I would like to see years of employment verses paid holidays increased, as it is way to far apart for increases of vaction, from 15yrs.-20yrs,with no increase. Also we in the DTHR. are ready to walk, as we are tired of busting our asses daily, with mgmt. not making any effort to increase wages like the Calgary region to keep staff, and they were asked back in September, and we were totally ignored. Well we will see if they ignore us when we walk.

Capital Health Region gave increases to over 60% of their members ON the grid prior to bargaining. It's money the other Regions can access but they choose not to. What are they waiting for? Everyone to quit?
